uh, I'M ENGAGED

This post has been a longgggggg time in the making. Let's start from the beginning before we all get confused haha
The second half of 2012 was full of Sam and I preparing for our trip to the US. We were planning and preparing and saving and just generally all round busy. We have always been very open about wedding talk and that we wanted to get married. We had discussed rings and venues and ideas and had even proposed to each other countless times but Sam knew i wanted to be proposed to at the right time and the traditional way with a ring on a perfect day. Around my birthday (in July) Sam wrote me a letter telling me to be patient and the time will come soon enough for us to get married. So I waited. I waited but I didn't stop thinking about it. I had this idea that he would propose to me while we were in America because it would be something big and amazing being far from home and it would make the trip even better. But I was wrong.
It was our 4th anniversary on Boxing Day, December 26. Sam said we should go for a picnic in the park we had our first date (and mannnyyyy other dates) to celebrate. He said we would go and buy some food in the city and then make our way there. Before that I really wanted to get in on the Boxing Day sales but Sam kept saying "no, no we'll eat now and shop later." But me being the stubborn butt I am said shop now, eat later. I bought some goodies then it was time to eat. I got some sushi and Sam strangely didn't want anything. I didn't think anything of it at the time. We get to the park, we sit down on the grass and I start eating. Since it was Christmas the day before we were talking about our gifts and the fun day we had and them Sam 'remembered' that he had forgotten to give me one of my presents. Can you believe at this point I still didn't think something was up? Seriously!
He took out a small glossy wooden box out of his bag and even then I didn't know what to think. Is this earrings, is this a cocktail ring, is it a brooch? I was so convinced it wouldn't happen so soon so an engagement ring was the last thing to pop up in my head.
He opened the box and before he could even say anything i burst out into the ugliest cry ever. He asked and I just kept crying and nodding then wheezed 'YES!'. He got teary and hugged me and wouldn't let go. Once I got myself together the first thing I said was "Theres going to be a wedding and I'M going to be the bride!" like Amy from Everybody Loves Raymond and we laughed. I called my parents first and they were at the shops. My Dad started crying and he never cries. Jesus. Im crying writing this just remembering this all. Sam called his parents and they said they had a feeling today would be the day.
We rushed home and the process of phone calls announcing our engagement began.

This was taken literally a minute before it all happened haha

The ring! I hinted to Sam the classic Tiffany & Co ring was my dream diamond and he somehow found something almost identical but a tenth of the price. Props to Sam for being a diamond hunting genius!

So thats basically the story of how it went and now that we're back and mostly settled trying to start planning the wedding you'll be able to see the story unfold at my wedding blog http://thefairyflosswedding.blogspot.com.au

New things

I got a new haircut and I absolutely love it! Ugh! I'm actually in love with mu hairdresser. Hairdressers are like soulmates. It's so hard to find one that just gets you and your hair. Kylie from Miss Gertrude (Previously 'Lure" Salon) is a fabulous human being. She's been cutting and colouring my hair since she was at the tail end of her apprenticeship and started my journey into white hair-dom. If you're in the Fitzroy area hit her up and tell her I sent you ;)

I also got myself a pair of prescription sunglasses! This may not sound like the most exciting thing ever, but it is to me because whenever I wore sunglasses I'd have to be blind or wear my specs underneath my sunnies like a lame soccer-dad. Its just a shame the nicest ones were by Alex Perry. Ugh. He's such a wanker. But whatever because now I CAN SEE WHILE I'M OUT IN THE SUN!

Frogs in the pool

The title explains most of it, really. We found frogs squatting in our pool and we decided to play with them and let them chill in there for a bit longer but a few days later we decided to take them to a pond where they can live normally.

We put them in a pickle jar and what do they do? Start doing the deed. It was weird and jizzy and the water went murky. We finally got there and popped them in the pond and there was a mumma goose (I assumed she was a swan, but sam is apparently so sure shes a goose. whatevz) and her babies! We stared at them and giggled at how cute they were for a while.

 Little goosey bums!

Kitties!

Hi kittens!
These photos were taken a few months back before we went overseas. I had received my badges from Hardcore Sophmore  which are the greatest! I have since bought more and actually met the doll behind the pins while i was in New York. I'm going to do a post of my collection I've accumulated because they are so fantastic. I've gotten so many compliments on them all especially the Kim K crying badge haha

We met this ginger prince at my inlaws house. They call her Crookshanks. She loved me and Sam so much and just wanted cuddles. When we got home Kitengi didn't want to be around us because she could smell the betrayal haha
Kitengi had a little bit of an eye problem and we had to take her to the vet and i couldnt help laughing at her in this cat sack restraint they had to put her in to give her all the medication/creams. She was looking at me like 'i hate you mum'. But still OMG how cute is it!?
I love her so much

So much glare

It was so bright outside I just couldn't keep my eyes open in the sun for long enough to take a photo. So I ended up looking like this...

It was Sams birthday and his parents shouted all of us Teppinyaki for tea in the city. It was actually the best thing ever. Sam got pelted in the face with fried egg and I caught it all on tape but all you can hear is me hysterically laughing hahaha

new year, too late

Well it's 2013 and the festivities and nonsensicalness has settled down so I think its time for an overview. The last time I blogged was in November. A whole lot has happened since then but the main being.... I GOT ENGAGED! oh my goodness I cant wait to blog about the proposal and wedding ideas!
Aside from that, we've been prepping our US holiday and have celebrated my sisters/sams/my dads birthdays (and mums is coming up in a week).
On Jan 1st I figured it would be a good time to say goodbye to my blonde hair and go brown so I could grow it out. I miss it, but I've grown to appreciate my natural hair colour so there's no love lost between me and my follicles.
But anyway, heres to a new year and a new 'you' or me, or whatever. And here are outfit pics I never posted on here.

We had our primary school 10 year reunion. I was there with my bff from primary school. The popular girls are still cunts and me and my old bff are actually so much better off for nerding it up and being bullied because I'd hate to have turned out like them. SUX 2 B U.
Fun fact. I was away from school one day in grade 2 and my bff started crying because she didn't know who else to hang out with so the teachers put us in the same class the next year and we were in the same classes for the rest of our schooling life.

We never got a lot of presents as kids. Mum would always buy a number of really small things so it'd feel more exciting opening 'more' presents. This year I had a steady income and bought everyone a shitload of presents each and i had more fun watching everyone open their presents than anything.
